Politicans Neglect our Soldiers and DREAMers.

WASHINGTON — Army leaders are expressing increased alarm about the mental health of soldiers who would be sent back to the front again and again under plans that call for troop numbers to be sustained at high levels in Iraq for this year and beyond.

If DREAM Passes there would be hundreds of thousands of new soldiers to aid the military. AT LEAST 1/3 (probably more) of DREAMers would opt for the military option. I don't understand congress. Why are they doing this to our soldiers and to DREAMers when they have an immediate solution available.

Unless you can magically convince congress overnight that we should withdraw from Iraq immediately we shouldn't make our troops and DREAMers suffer.

Immigration these days is a package deal with the exception of the diversity visa program which is all luck. If you are married to a U.S. citizen you can immigrate here. If you have a skill that a corporation wants, you can immigrate here. Why not give to the most patriotic of immigrants? Corporations use foreign workers why can't the military use Americans who are only "foeign" by technicality?

As for the vulnerable position these kids are put in. I agree but that is why they are given TWO options. Join the military or get a college degree so they are productive members of society. No one is being coerced into the military, just giving them the option to enlist.

If the U.S. was good at looking at the "big picture", we wouldn't have needed foreign trained doctors such as your Idol Michelle Malkin's parents. Lots of Americans want to be doctors, why are we importing them? I hope you realize I'm being sarcastic. We need soldiers and DREAMers want to serve their country. We can't neglect our country's medical needs or our army's needs.

Don't take this the wrong way but immigrants who hate immigrnats rub me the wrong way. Aakash you of all people should sympathize with DREAMers. You could have easily been one. Anyone who has worked with the American immigration system knows how easy it is to become lost and have a technicality or even mistake on the past of USCIS cause you to lose your status. Children of immigrants have little say over their status and it's a very vulnerable and scary position to be in.
